Spring flowers & Inspiration

Spring is finally here in NYC! Warm weather, flowers, sunshine all around...including allergies. Not so fun.

It's been awhile since my last post but I've finished my last piece and began working on a new flower painting (hopefully in time for Mother's day!)

A sneak peek at my latest painting:

I have hit a tipping point in my artwork lately and also realized that I have amassed WAY too many art supplies. Not to mention going through too many palettes and eventually realizing that porcelain will be the only type of palette I prefer to use in my studio. Pictured above is the Stephen Quiller porcelain palette that I bought around October'13 (~$50 +$8 S+H)

I still love it to pieces and use it more often than my Mijello Bulletproof Glass Palettes. I picked up a second Mijello recently around January to test out some new Winsor Newton Watercolors. The vibrancy from W&N is great but for the price of 19 colors...not entirely worth it unless you are willing to splurge a bit.

Mijello is great but I still prefer porcelain as my main go-to choice:

Updated photo of my now abused Stephen Quiller palette. I rarely clean it unless I need more mixing space for a new piece.

The other day, I came across this porcelain palette with 30 wells which is just 2 wells shy from my current SQ palette! I couldn't believe the price tag on this - only ~$40! Needless to say, I have ordered one from Cheap Joe's here. It's called the "American Journey Cavalcade Porcelain Palette"

Cannot wait til it arrives! Look how pretty it is.

Hopefully I'm not becoming a palette addict but I certainly cannot wait until this arrives! I'm expecting it this week so I'll post photos and a review once I get my hands on it. If I had known of this palette's existence earlier, maybe I would have not ordered my SQ palette after-all.

Stay tuned and enjoy the wonderful sunny weather!
